Debra Medina interview on CBS 11 (Full Version) Part 1 of 3
Official Campaign Website www.MedinaForTexas.com Debra Medina is interviewed by CBS 11. This is the raw footage of the interview, over 28 minutes in length. Quite possibly the best interview of Debra Medina to date. A wide range of subjects are discussed, such as gun rights, property rights, border security, property taxes, transportation, Rick Perry, Kay Bailey Hutchison, etc.
There is a total disconnect between image that Debra Medina presents of herself in the media and what goes on, in what appears to be her official Facebook page.
@ magyarman24, Ms. Medina has stated that through the free market system if the property tax goes down or is zero that the property owner is less likely to pass this cost down to the renter.
In a free market system free of government restraints competition is key. Meaning when Landlord A and Landlord B are in competition with one another, the renter benefits because both Landlords will compete for their lease, I.E. lower rental price.
Free market, without a government intrusion, interference.
Property tax is utterly contrary to our right to ownership. With Property tax all you’ll ever be is a leaser of the property, with the state owning it forever. Debra is right on on this and virtually every other issue as well. LIBERTY!
Can you imagine owning your own home? My property tax is more than my original mortgage. The will help first time buyers taxes and insurance are a big part of your payment. i also own rentals I want have to go up to cover taxes, If property tax goes up the rent goes up, if property taxes are taken off I can lower the rent and make the same profit.
There will be landlord competition, so if one landlord lowers his rates, the others will have to also. I doubt if all will keep rates high, this just doesn’t happen in a free market.
magyarman24 = idiot
In all reality that is the perfect system. Lets hope it works and everybody is on the same page.
@magyarman24 In order to stay competitive, landlords will reduce rent statewide. This is how the free market works, when let go to do it’s thing, it will prosper.
That is a good way to look at it, but I believe that the property owner (landlord) will be in control of your rent rate, meaning that it will be up to him/her to lower your rent rate as a result of no property tax.
I think Mrs. Medina should be asked of that scenario, it would be interesting to hear her response.
I am not bashing her I am just trying to figure her out rather than jumping in head first.
Forgot to add this in the first comment.
So if property tax goes away for Texan’s that is a win win, but for renters are their rent rates going to come down as a result of? no property tax?
She dodged the interviewers question on people who rent at 2:41…
Deb please if your not afforded the opportunity to serve, I would hope to see you continue to inform and educate in the same manner Richard Mack does! Amen?
Debra Medina for governor of Texas!
Just a grocer determines how much to charge for a pound of flour. After figuring out his “costs”, he passes along these costs along with whatever profit he is able to make to the purchaser. Taxes are just another cost. The amount of profit is determined by market conditions and typically, the seller or renter will charge whatever the market will bear. If he’s greedy and sells for too much of a profit, then he will be met with competition. Too little profit, he will be out of business.
The owner figures in their cost of offering the property for rent and charges accordingly. Property tax is one of those costs passed on to the renter.
@LoneStarLiberty ;the owner of the property pays the taxes.
Cmon Texans, get the word out! Medina is gettin a little bit of press, but its gonna be us thats gets her into office. Get your friends and your family and whoever else and go vote for her in the republican primary on March 2nd. If there’s any real hope for Texas, its Debra Medina!
I rent and i realize that $3000 of my yearly rent goes to PROPERTY TAX! I don’t want to pay it any more!
I’m more libertarian than Medina is, but she’s 1,000% better than the other candidates running.
So….. Medina 2010!
Debra, I stand behind you 100%. You truly represent the Texans that aren’t big business. Save our rights and our sovereignty while we still have it. I love our country but I can’t say the same for our representation. Looking forward to seeing you on KERA in the debates. If they let you.
If Medina wins, I will definitely be moving to Texas, I love the idea of true property ownership.
